Gestational diabetes is not diabetes for your kids. Many people with diabetes have a healthy baby during pregnancy. Nutritional changes and exercise may be necessary to regulate the blood glucose levels.

The excessive amount of blood sugar and insulin will make a baby weigh extra fat. This can cause the child to grow bigger. Often, elevated levels of blood sugar during pregnancy and function increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) for a baby following delivery.
