Dr. K. Anji Reddy was an Indian pharmaceutical entrepreneur and philanthropist who was born on 20 June 1940 in Andhra Pradesh, India. He is best known as the founder of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in India. Dr. Reddy received his Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from the University of Mumbai and his Master's degree in Chemistry from Bangalore University.

He started his career as a researcher at a government laboratory in Hyderabad, India. However, he was inspired to start his own pharmaceutical company after he saw the lack of affordable medicines for people suffering from life-threatening diseases in India. In 1984, Dr. Reddy founded Dr. Reddy's Laboratories in Hyderabad, which started as a small research-based pharmaceutical company.

Over the years, the company grew into a leading pharmaceutical company in India and later expanded its operations globally. Dr. Reddy's Laboratories became known for its innovative approach to drug discovery and development, as well as its commitment to producing affordable medicines for people in need.

In addition to his work in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Reddy was also known for his philanthropic activities. He founded the K. Anji Reddy Charitable Trust, which focuses on supporting education and healthcare initiatives in India. Dr. K. Anji Reddy passed away on 15 March 2013, but his legacy continues to inspire others to make a positive impact in the lives of people through innovative solutions in the pharmaceutical industry.

Throughout his career, Dr. Reddy received numerous awards and recognition for his contributions to the pharmaceutical industry, including the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of pharmaceuticals and healthcare.
