In developed countries pharmacists worked as Pharmacy Benefit Manager to reduce the cost of medications to consumers by directly negotiate discount from drug manufacturers or wholesalers.
As per my knowledge Indian Pharm D graduates can act as Pharmacy Benefit Managers to reduce the cost of prescribed medicines. But the drug store business model in India is completely occupied by doctors and whole sellers with high discounts.
