When a clot clogs the deep veins of the arms, legs or groin in an incomplete type of occlusion, it is called as deep vein thrombosis and when it further travels into circulation and lodges into lungs, it is called pulmonary embolism.
when deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism occur together, it is called as venous thromboembolism.
