Indo-U.S. Fellowship for Women in STEMM (IUSSTF)
Jointly announced by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and Indo-U.S. Science & Technology Forum (IUSSTF) for Women in STEMM (WISTEMM), the fellowship aims to promote research and capacity building for bright Indian women students and scientists in different frontline areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) by providing opportunities to gain exposure and access to world-class research facilities in the U.S.A.
This will help pave the way for the next generation of women scientists and technologists from India to interact with American peers, thus helping to build long-term R&D linkages and collaborations, and encourage, motivate and provide opportunities for outstanding women students to take up research paths.
The program has two modules:
Women Overseas Student Internship program
Eligibility
• Indian women applicants currently pursuing PhD degree in basic sciences, engineering or technology including agricultural and medical sciences on a full-time basis at any recognized academic institution/R&D institute/university in India
• Not eligible — Students currently enrolled in the first year of their PhD degree; students who have submitted their thesis or likely to submit their thesis within the next three months from the last date of online submission
• Age limits: 21 to 35 years
Support
• Monthly stipend of $2,500
• Air Fare up to $2,500
• Health Insurance of up to $500
• Contingency up to $1,000
Duration
The fellowship is for a period of 3–6 months.

Women Overseas Fellowship program
Eligibility
• Indian women applicants having a PhD degree in basic sciences, engineering or technology including agricultural and medical sciences and holding a regular position at any recognized academic institution/ R&D institute/ university/ college in India
• Preference accorded to applicants having research collaborative projects with any institute or lab in the U.S.A (but not visited there)
• Not eligible — Candidates who have done their PhD or DSc from abroad; Candidates work- ing on any kind of fellowships, or candidates already have overseas research exposure beyond the duration of three months in the last five years from the last date of submission
• Age limits: 27 to 45 years
Support
• Monthly stipend of $3,000
• Air Fare up to $2,500
• Health Insurance of up to $1,000
• Contingency up to $1,000
• Conference Allowances of up to $1,200

The fellowship is for a period of 3–6 months.
