Inspire Fellowship programme (DST)
The Inspire Fellowship is part of the Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC) component of the INSPIRE programme launched by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Gov- ernment of India, focused on attracting students to pursue doctoral training in basic and applied sciences including engineering, medicine, agriculture, veterinary, pharmacy sciences. The scheme provides for 1000 fellowships annually.
Eligibility
INSPIRE Scholars who have secured minimum 65% marks or (or CGPA equivalent) in aggre- gate in MSc or Integrated MS/MSc Courses
First rank holders in University level examinations in postgraduate courses in basic or applied sciences, including engineering, medicine, pharmacy, agricultural sciences and vet- erinary sciences, from any recognized University or academic institution (excluding Autono- mous Colleges) within India
First rank holders in graduate/postgraduate level examinations in medicine conducted by a
University/Institution within India
Not eligible — First rank holders in colleges following the Autonomous College Examina- tion; candidates with degree(s) through Distance Education Mode; first rank holders in any specialization given during the second last year of MSc
Age group of 22–27 years
Support
JRF (For first 2 years)
Fellowship of ₹31,000 per month + HRA + Contingency
SRF (Remaining 3 years, based on the recommendation of an assessment committee report approved by the DST)
Fellowship of ₹35,000 per month + HRA + Contingency
Duration
The fellowship is tenable for a maximum period of five years.
Deadline
The application opens once a year.
