Travel Grant (Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds)
The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds (BIF) awards travel grants for up to three months duration to MD and PhD students, as well as postdoctoral researchers from all over the world. The BIF supports applicants who conduct basic biomedical research wanting to pursue short-term research stays or attend practical courses relevant to their projects in Europe or overseas.
Eligibility
The travel grants are aimed at junior scientists. According to the level of experience, eligibility requirements are as follows: (see also documents for application and FAQs):
• For PhD and MD students as well as graduates from:university entrance qualification must not have been obtained more than 11 years (i.e.132 months) prior to the planned research visit
• For postdocs: university entrance qualification must not have been obtained more than 13 years (i.e. 156 months) prior to the planned research visit
Support
• BIF’s travel grants will be provided as a lump sum to contribute to the expenses for travel to and from destination, lodging (e.g. student housing), and course fees.
• For doctoral students and postdoc applicants from countries with very low incomes, additional funds for living costs may be granted.
Duration
The total duration of the research stay should not exceed three months.
Deadline
Applications for travel grants are open throughout the year, but must reach the Boehringer Ingel- heim Fonds (BIF) at the latest six weeks prior, but not earlier than six months before the pro- posed departure date.
