I am looking forward to understanding PharmD graduates' present position in India. I would also like to know the following.
- How about the PharmD job opportunities in India?
- What is the maximum salary for PharmD graduates in India and abroad?
- Any Indian government jobs are available for PharmD?
As per current status in India, PharmD graduates job opportunities are good in India when compared with other courses like B Pharm, M Pharm, and D Pharmacy Courses.
PharmD program has well structured curricular components and delivers valuable skills and competencies as outcomes to match for any pharma related job requirements.
But the course length and the investment of money are more for the PharmD Program than other Pharmacy courses. Additionally, Pharmacy Practice concepts are still at the introduction level in the Indian Healthcare system. So the expected levels of professional identity and job opportunities are not achieved as clinical pharmacists in India.
PharmD's have fewer opportunities in government healthcare sectors as specialist pharmacists and job opportunities are less when compared with physicians, nursing, and other healthcare workers. This is the biggest challenge for the practicing pharmacist in India. Expect that in all other pharma segments PharmD graduates have equal opportunities like other specialized pharmacy graduates.
At present, Doctor of Pharmacy graduates is appointed mainly by private pharma companies and industries. As per my understand the entry-level salary for PharmD graduates varies from 15,000 Rs to 45,000 Rs. Experienced PharmD Graduates are earning more than 60,000 Rs as salary in India. As we know these salary packages may vary depending upon the professional qualities of the individuals.
