Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship - Biological Sciences (UGC)

Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship (DSKPDF) Scheme was expected to provide an opportu- nity to fresh PhD graduates to overcome the deficiencies in training at the doctoral level, and to explore new areas of research in better settings in the Indian University Sector.

Eligibility

• Age limit: 35 years (Up to 3, 5 and 10 years of age relaxation is allowed for OBC, SC/ST/ Women and physically handicapped respectively)

• Applicants with a PhD degree under science faculty

• Higher PDF (with marginally elevated stipend) for applicants identified as outstanding by standing (core) peer committee of reviewers

Candidates must identify a Mentor (affiliated to University/ Institute wherein DSK Fellowship is tenable) for postdoctoral research work and obtains his/her consent for the mentorship.

Support

Monthly stipend:

Normal fellowship for the first, second and third year are ₹47,000, ₹49,000 and ₹54,000 respectively

Higher fellowship for all 3 years of fellowship is ₹54,000

Contingency grant of ₹1,00,000 per year

Duration

The fellowship will be awarded on a yearly basis with renewal/ termination clause on the basis of the mentor or peer group appraisal. However, the maximum duration of the award would be three years. No extension is possible under any circumstances.

There are no deadlines, and applications are received throughout the year.
