Junior Research Scholarship (LADY TATA MEMORIAL TRUST)
The Junior Research Scholarship (JRS) is offered to support candidates towards pursuing a PhD involving scientific investigations that will directly or indirectly work towards the alleviation of human suffering from a disease.
Eligibility
Fresh MBBS/MSc/MPharm/MTech graduates
Indian nationals from select Universities/institutes/laboratories, with first-class academics
(60% and above), from Class X up to date
Candidates with GATE/NET qualifications will be given preference
The candidate must complete the formalities for PhD registration within 9 months to 14 months from the date of joining as JR Scholar with the Trust, otherwise, the Trust will terminate the scholarship.
Support
Junior Research Scholar (JRS):
Two years commencing from the date of joining in the host institute for PhD work
₹31,000 per month
Senior Research Scholar (JRS):
Three years subject to approval by the Institutional Doctoral Committee and Lady Tata
Trust’s Indian Scientific Advisory Committee (ISAC)
₹35,000 per month
Annual contingency fund of ₹30,000
House Rent Allowance
25% of the basic value of the scholarship to scholars doing research work in the select Met- ro cities
10% of basic value of their scholarship to scholars from other small towns or cities
Duration
The tenure of the scholarship is five years.

The applications open every year in the first week of December.
